Wax powder is a white powdery functional material made from polyethylene as the substrate, which is finely ground and chemically modified. The average particle size is about 5 microns and the density is 0.93g/cm ³. This material achieves centralized particle size distribution through micronization technology, combined with surface modification treatment to enhance compatibility with the substrate. Mainly used in the fields of coatings, inks, engineering plastics, cosmetics, etc.
Physical characteristics:
Wax powder has the characteristics of uniform particle size and excellent dispersion, with Dv50 values concentrated in the 5-6 micron range. The particle size distribution span measured by laser diffraction method is less than 1.5. The material density is 0.93-0.94g/cm ³ (ASTM D792 test), and the melting point fluctuates within the range of 110-130 ℃, depending on the molecular chain structure and degree of modification of polyethylene [2]. The Clariant PE520 product has a melt viscosity of approximately 650mPa · s and an acid value of zero at 140 ℃, which meets the technical requirements for industrial lubricating materials.
Chemical characteristics:
Polyethylene wax: particle size can be micronized to below 6 µ m, melting point 80-120 ℃, density 0.95-1.01 g/cm ³, commonly used for powder coating degassing.
PTFE modified polyethylene wax (such as Clariant 9610F): melting point 124-129 ℃, density 0.98-1.01 g/cm ³, particle size 8 µ m, low friction coefficient (0.04), suitable for high wear resistance scenarios.
Special modified wax powder
Organic high-temperature resistant wax powder (SH-1089L): thermal stability of 200 ℃, particle size of 3-6 µ m, acid and alkali resistance, salt spray resistance, suitable for UV curing system.
