SBS rubber, also known as styrene butadiene styrene block copolymer, is a thermoplastic elastomer material synthesized from styrene and butadiene through a specific process.

Physical and chemical properties:

Appearance: White loose columnar solid

English name: polystyrene polybutadiene polystyrene; styrene-butadiene triblock copolymer

Abbreviation: SBS

Relative molecular weight: Linear SBS has an average relative molecular weight of 80000 to 120000, while star shaped SBS has an average relative molecular weight of 140000 to 300000

Chemical properties: The relative molecular weight of SBS has a significant impact on its performance, with high relative molecular weight, high solution viscosity, and high adhesive strength. The monomer composition ratio in the product is very important. As the S/B ratio of styrene to butadiene increases, the viscosity of the polymer solution decreases, and the tensile strength and hardness increase.

Relative density: 0.92~0.95

Bulk density: 0.35-0.45

Performance: It has excellent tensile strength, elasticity, and electrical properties, with small permanent deformation, good fl

exibility and resilience, and high surface friction. The resistance to ozone, oxygen, and ultraviolet radiation is similar to that of styrene butadiene rubber. Excellent breathability. Due to the presence of double bonds in the main chain, SBS has poor aging resistance. Under high-temperature air oxidation conditions, butadiene blocks will crosslink, resulting in increased hardness and viscosity

Solubility: SBS is soluble in cyclohexane, toluene, benzene, methyl ethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, dichloroethane, but insoluble in water, ethanol, solvent gasoline, etc.
