Potassium chloride is an inorganic chloride with the chemical formula KCI and a molecular weight of 74.55. It is usually a colorless cubic crystal. The melting point is 790 ℃, the boiling point is 1500 ℃, and the density is 1.988g/cm3. Has hygroscopicity and is prone to clumping. Easy to dissolve in water, solubility increases with temperature, aqueous solution is neutral and has a salty taste. Slightly soluble in glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether, concentrated hydrochloric acid, and acetone. It can undergo displacement reaction with metallic sodium at a high temperature of 850 ℃, and react with concentrated sulfuric acid to produce potassium bisulfate and hydrogen chloride.
