Polyhexamethylene adipate, commonly known as nylon-66, is a thermoplastic resin typically produced by the condensation of adipic acid and hexamethylene adipate. Insoluble in general solvents, only soluble in meta phenylcresol, etc. The mechanical strength and hardness are very high, and the rigidity is very high. It can be used as engineering plastic, mechanical accessories such as gears and lubricating bearings, replacing non-ferrous metal materials for machine casings, automotive engine blades, etc. It can also be used to produce synthetic fibers.
