Sodium citrate, also known as trisodium citrate, sodium citrate, trisodium citrate, is an organic acid sodium salt. The appearance is white to colorless crystals, with a cool salty taste, and stable in the air. The chemical formula is C6H5Na3O7, soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol. The aqueous solution has a slight alkalinity and is commonly used as a buffering agent, chelating agent, bacterial culture medium. It is used in medicine as a diuretic, expectorant, anticoagulant, and in food, beverage, electroplating, photography, and other fields. It is one of the basic drugs used in biological experiments.
